Establishment: Seeded with a Hege 3-point hitch drill with presswheels at 16 lb/a.
Plot size: 4' x 20', 15' alleys and borders. RCBD with four reps.
Soil type and analysis: Crosby silt loam, pH = 6.2, P = 74 lb/a, K = 236 lb/a, CEC = 8.4, O.M. 3.2,  (10/02).
2002 Fertilization: 110 lb/a of 0-46-0 & 300 lb/a of 0-0-60 was fall applied in 2002.
200 lb/a of 34-0-0 was applied on 19-April. 115 lb/a of 34-0-0 was applied on 4-June and 19-July.
